France extends curfew to 46 million people because “the situation is dire”

The French government has extended the curfew, originally imposed on Paris and other cities, to 38 new departments and Polynesia, so that 46 million citizens – more than two thirds of the population – will restrict their mobility overnight to curb an expansion of the coronavirus, the Prime Ministers Jean Castex described himself as “serious”.
