French Health Ministry’s Director General for Health, Jérôme Salomon, has reported 242 coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing France to 22,856 deaths.
The number is a significant drop from Saturday when the French government reported 369 deaths, and more so than on Friday when 389 people were killed.
France distinguishes between 14,202 deaths in hospitals and 8,654 deaths in socio-sanitary facilities, mainly in nursing homes.
The decline in hospital stays also continues: a total of 28,217 patients, five fewer than on Saturday. In addition, 4,682 people are in intensive care, 43 fewer than on Saturday and 44,903 were discharged and returned home.
