France confirms more than 15,500 new cases and exceeds 500,000 coronavirus infections

The French government this Friday confirmed more than 15,500 cases of coronavirus last day, bringing the total number of infections in the European country over half a million since the pandemic began.

Public Health of France stated on its website that it had confirmed 15,797 cases and 56 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 513,034 and 31,661, respectively.

The daily number of infections is the second highest to date, just below the 16,096 cases reported Thursday amid a sharp surge in infections in recent weeks.

It was also highlighted that 4,069 people were hospitalized in the past week, including 747 in resuscitation services due to the severity of their condition.
