French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said Monday that French authorities suspect there are 8,132 people in the country who could be linked to terrorism after making a “difficult and sensitive” list that said it was “worrying” Presence of right-wing extremist elements.

Darmanin stated that despite the presence of the far right on this list, “terrorism of Sunni origin remains the main threat” France faces.

“The fight against Islamist terrorism was one of the government’s top priorities,” Darmanin emphasized during a ceremony at the headquarters of the Directorate-General for Homeland Security.
