As reported by the newspaper “La Estrella”, both arrived at 9:00 am (local time) between bumps and crowds at the headquarters of the specialized anti-corruption prosecutor who asked them to testify for the “Odebrecht” investigation and ” New Business “.
Although Varela, who has appeared, is connected to the corruption network of the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht, Martinelli, which is related to the purchase of the Epasa group by public funds, he has refused to answer questions from prosecutors. .
Therefore, prosecutors have banned Martinelli from leaving the country, which is why he has to be in front of the agency on the 15th of each month. This measure was ordered by the public prosecutor Emeldo Márquez, according to the newspaper “La Prensa”. The former president, who has asserted that the case against him is the product of political persecution, has used Article 25 of the Constitution, which states that no one is obliged to testify against himself.
