Former United States national security advisor John Bolton said in his book that President Donald Trump personally asked his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping for help to be re-elected in the November 3 election.

In the manuscript of the book – which has not yet been published – received from the CNN television station, Bolton reports that Trump “surprisingly” directed the conversation at the book at a G-20 summit in Osaka in 2019 US elections pointing to “China’s economic ability to influence ongoing campaigns and asking Xi to make sure he wins”.

According to the former National Security Advisor, Trump stressed “the importance of farmers and the increase in Chinese soybean and wheat purchases in the election result.” Bolton has stated that “he would print Trump’s exact words,” but the White House review process prior to the book’s publication “decided otherwise”.
