Former Brazilian health ministers Alexandre Padilha, Arthur Chioro and Humberto Costa denounced President Jair Bolsonaro this Saturday to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights for his actions against the coronavirus pandemic.
Representatives accused Bolsonaro of violating health and life rights and accused him of “potential genocide” for failing to comply with Covid’s recommendations from health authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO). 19, as reported by ‘Folha de Sao Paulo’.
This is one of the Brazilian President’s new fronts after Brazilian Attorney General Augusto Aras asked the Supreme Court to open an investigation against him by former Minister of Justice and Public Security Minister Sergio Moro after alleged “political interference” with the police.
The Brazilian president, who initially said that the coronavirus is “flu”, has been very critical of some of the government agencies that have chosen from the start to follow WHO recommendations to close schools and public places and to advise on the detention of his Citizens in their homes.
Brazil has recorded 346 coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours this Saturday, the Ministry of Health reports. The total number of deaths from the pandemic was 4,016. There are also 58,509 confirmed cases.
