Esther Morales, the sister of the former President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, died at the age of 70 from complications from the disease caused by the coronavirus, as the former president himself reported on his Twitter account this Sunday.
The former president’s sister had been admitted to intensive care hospital in the Oruro region of Bolivia since August 9 because she had basic medical complications.
Morales, who is in Argentina after forcibly resigning from office during a proclamation late last year, paid his respects to his older sister and lamented the impossibility of mourning her death in Bolivia.
“Why so much hatred, racism and political persecution that prevent me from seeing my only sister for the last time. For me, Esther, it was my mother. History will judge,” tweeted the deposed president.
