Former Armenian Defense Minister arrested on suspected corruption

Former Armenian Defense Minister Davit Tonoían was arrested on Thursday for alleged corruption as part of an investigation into several contracts for the purchase of arms for the Asian country’s army.

The National Security Service (NSS) has announced that Tonoián, who held the post between May 2018 and November 2020, was arrested along with arms dealer Davit Galstián for alleged abuse of power and forgery, according to Armenpress News.
