Eight people were killed in the floods that struck the Indonesian province of West Sumatra, particularly the city of Padang Pariaman, this week.
Among those killed are a man who was crushed by a tree and seven other people who were buried in a mudslide, a spokesman for the National Disaster Management Agency said on the Nawacita Post news portal.
Five other people were also injured while 280 families were affected by the floods.
The heavy rains flooded 338 houses and 80 hectares of farmland. Another dozen homes have been damaged by the effects of landslides and rising water, which has exceeded two meters in some cities due to the heavy rains typical of the wet season that will continue for the coming days.
