Five Yemeni provinces have already announced that they do not intend to recognize the self-governing declaration of the Yemen Transitional Council, the political body of the separatist movement, in the south of the country this Saturday.
The five provinces are Abyan, Shabwah, Hadramaut, Mahra and Socotra, according to the Yemeni news agency Saba.
At the head of this rejection is the Abyan province, whose government “fully opposes the Transitional Council ‘s declaration and considers it to be a breach of the agreement between them in November in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, to end hostilities between them and the separatists Yemeni government recognized by the international community.
The note, which was in turn collected by the Russian news agency Sputnik, adds that “citizens of the Abyan province support the legal government led by President Abdo Rabu Mansur Hadi”. The other four provinces have made similar statements.
