Five killed in a motorcycle bombing attack on the wedding in Afghanistan

At least five people died Thursday in a motorcycle bombing attack on a wedding in the eastern Afghan province of Jost, the Defense Ministry confirmed on Friday.

The ministry detailed in a statement posted on its website that the attack was carried out against a military man’s wedding, adding that three soldiers and two civilians were killed.

Acting Defense Minister Asadulá Khalid has expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the three wounded in the attack, whose responsibilities have not yet been taken.

The attack came at a time as the Afghan government and the Taliban are preparing to begin a historic peace process on Saturday that will begin in the Qatari capital, Doha, after several months of delays from the timetable agreed in the peace agreement signed on Sept. February between the United States and the insurgents.
