Five deaths and 486 new coronavirus infections in 24 hours in Portugal

The Portuguese government’s Directorate-General for Health reported five new deaths and 486 positive deaths from coronavirus this Saturday, representing 59,943 cases for a total of 1,838 deaths since the pandemic began.

There are also 34,201 cases monitored, 65 fewer than on Friday. A total of 345 patients were admitted, six more than on Friday and 41 in the intensive care unit, one fewer than the previous day. Portugal adds 217 new cases of rescued people for a total of 42,703.

Of the five new deaths, four correspond to the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region and the fifth to the Center region. Lisbon and the Tagus Valley are the region with the most confirmed cases at 30,839, while the North region has the most deaths at 849.
