At least five people died in a hostage attack on a church in Zuurbekom, South Africa. After that, at least 40 people, including several police officers, were arrested. The hostages, including women and children, have already been released.
According to South African public television SABC, police have reported arrests of several members of the South African police, the National Defense Force, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police and Correctional Services.
The incident appears to be due to a clash between various factions controlling the Pentecostal Church in Zuurbekom west of Johannesburg.
Six of the detainees were taken to a Zuurbekom hospital and more than 34 firearms were confiscated, including five rifles and thirteen pistols.
