Erdogan announces the capture of a wife, sister and brother-in-law of Al Baghdadi in Syria

ANKARA, Nov. 6 (Reuters / EP) –

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced on Wednesday the capture in Syria of a wife, sister and brother-in-law of Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, the late leader of the Islamic State terrorist group.

Turkey launched on October 9 a military operation in northeastern Syria allegedly against Syrian Kurdish militias, so it has personnel deployed on the ground of the neighboring country.

Al Baghdadi committed suicide with a bomb vest when he was cornered by the US special forces during an assault on the house in which he was hiding in the town of Barisha, in the province of Idlib (northwestern Syria), a few kilometers from the border Turkish, last October 26.
