Elon Musk unveils its new ship prototype to go to Mars

September 30, 2019

WASHINGTON, Sep. 30 (Reuters / EP) –

The CEO and founder of Space X, Elon Musk, unveiled his new Starship prototype this Sunday, with which he hopes to make humans travel to Mars.

“It's basically the Holy Grail of space,” Musk said to a large number of journalists and enthusiasts in the town of Boca Chica, in the state of Texas.

As he explained, the first flight to the orbit of Mars could take place within six months. Missions with humans would take place next year.

“The crucial advance we need to become a space civilization is to make space travel like air travel,” said Musk, who is also the executive director of the electric car manufacturer Tesla.

The spacecraft, a bright steel rocket designed to transport dozens of humans to the Moon and Mars, combines a space vehicle with a launch. Musk named Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa as the first Starship private passenger in 2018.

The town of Boca Chica, a few kilometers from the Mexican border, has been the main stage in the development of the Space X program for the Starship, whose rocket engine tests have caused complaints among residents.

“I think the real danger to the town of Boca Chica is low, but not small,” Musk said. “So it would probably be better to buy nearby villages over time, and we have made an offer in that regard,” he explained. Some residents have already rejected the offer made by the company, which offers three times the value of homes in the market.
