“Join AI in Tesla!” Musk tweeted on Sunday. The artificial intelligence team “reports directly to me and we communicate by email / text message almost every day,” the message says in English.

According to CNBC , the idea is for this new team to work on the Tesla autopilot to help the world move towards sustainable mobility.

The most curious thing about this work proposal is that Musk does not ask to have a specific academic degree.

“A PhD is definitely not required,” Musk tweeted on February 2. “I don't care if you didn't even graduate from high school.”

The SpaceX CEO is also said to be looking for people with a “deep understanding” of artificial intelligence. However, although the degree of studies is not relevant to apply to the Tesla team, candidates will be given a “hardcore” coding test.

It is not the first time that Musk dismisses the importance of university degrees. In 2014 he said in an interview that “if someone graduated from a large university, that may be an indication that they will be able to do great things, but it is not necessarily the case.”
