Eight people die from monsoon rains in southern Pakistan

At least eight people have died since Sunday as a result of the monsoon rains in the city of Karachi (south), the most populous in Pakistan, as the authorities of the Asian country confirmed on Monday.

Police have said that most deaths, including a ten-year-old boy, are due to electric shocks due to the fall of masts and electrical cables due to wind and rain.

The rains have resulted in large parts of Karachi being submerged, leading to various blackouts and congestion, although the Sindh provincial government has stressed that “it could have been worse”.
