The Ecuadorian Ministry of Health said this Friday that the barrier of 60,000 cases of coronavirus has been exceeded while ratifying the health emergency in the health system across the country.
The balance offered by health authorities confirms a total of 60,657 positive results for COVID-19 across Ecuador after 1,171 additional cases have been registered in the last 24 hours. In terms of the number of deaths, the number rose to 4,700, 61 more than the previous day.
In the provinces, Guayas remains the most affected by the pandemic. There were 16,013 infections, 40 more than the day before. Behind her is Pichincha, who has concentrated 321 of the new cases and now comprises a total of 8,574 cases.
Likewise, 70 percent of COVID-19 cases across Ecuador are concentrated in 18 municipalities in the capital, Quito, in Pichincha, according to the local newspaper ‘El Comercio’. In addition, Manabí has 4,615 cases; Los Ríos has 2,346; and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas a total of 2,197.
