Ecuador exceeds 5,000 coronavirus deaths and 67,000 infections

Ecuador has recorded more than 5,000 coronavirus deaths this Saturday, and has reached 67,000 pandemic infections, according to the latest information from the Ministry of Health.

Health authorities have registered 1,408 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, increasing the total number of positive results in the country to 67,209.

The province of Guayas remains the most affected by the pandemic: 16,453 infections, 111 more on Saturday and 1,637 deaths. Pichincha follows with 10,414 positives and 581 deaths; and Manabí with 5,056 cases and 679 deaths.

The Ministry of Health has reported that as of this Saturday, 5,900 people have recovered from the disease, 8,693 have been discharged from the hospital, and 15,541 have been discharged epidemiologically.

In infected people, 31,067 are stable in domestic isolation, while 653 are stable but are hospitalized.
