Ecuador exceeds 40,000 cases of coronavirus and lifts some restrictions

Ecuador transmitted more than 40,000 cases of coronavirus on Wednesday. At the same time, the Emergency Operations Committee (COE) announced the lifting of some restrictions, such as the resumption of training in professional sports.

In particular, according to the COE, Ecuador diagnosed a total of 40,966 COVID-19 positives, while the number of deaths rose to 3,486.

According to the report of the newspaper ‘El Comercio’ in Ecuador, 4,000 people have recovered from the disease, 4,693 have been discharged from the hospital and 11,602 have been discharged epidemiologically.

Of the provinces, Guayas continue to be the hardest hit with 14,184 cases. Of these, 9,773 were confirmed in the capital, Guayaquil. It is followed by Pichincha with 4,166, whose capital Quito accounts for 3,842 COVID-19 cases. Manabí follows with 2,516 cases; Los Ríos at 1,591; and El Oro with 1,213.
