Easter holidays increased by one month due to coronavirus

The Secretary of Public Education of Mexico, Esteban Moctezuma , announced at a press conference that due to the contingency caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic , the Easter holidays will be brought forward. In this way, the last day of school will be March 20 and they will return to classrooms on April 20.

“The Easter school holidays will be brought forward, from the last day of school that will now be this Friday, March 20, and we will return on April 20. We are talking about a 30-day recess,” the official told reporters.

All basic, upper secondary and higher education falls under this measure to avoid proximity between 24 million students. Moctezuma pointed out that the SEP will rework the calendar of activities to recover the 10 days that will be lost due to the pandemic.

Teachers will receive directions on Monday, March 23, as will administrative staff.
