Colombian President Iván Duque has asked this Friday not to “disappoint” the coronavirus pandemic, while health officials have reported nearly 3,500 new cases in the past 24 hours.

“Nobody here can give up their vigilance and we need everyone’s commitment because we will all get on as a team,” said Duque during a television conference, but he stressed that the pandemic numbers in Colombia are “encouraging”.

“Despite the growth in recent days, Colombia has shown figures that are encouraging compared to the world,” said the president, who insisted that citizens show “responsibility and culture.”
