DiDi announced that it will extend its support to older adults and their families in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. The mobility company will give financial support to its drivers and delivery partners over 65 with the aim that they remain at home, since according to the Ministry of Health they are vulnerable population.
In the event that drivers in this age range comply with the call, the company developed a weekly program in which this population can request financial support corresponding to 75% of their earnings.
“We understand the impact that the coronavirus is having on drivers and delivery partners. With that in mind, we are fully focused on solidarity and support to the community as much as possible, encouraging our users to stay home and protecting others with punctual actions, attending and aligning protocols with the authorities. We know it will not be an easy path, but we are committed to achieving it together, ”said Juan Andrés Panamá, director of operations for DiDi México.
In addition, the platform will extend its international fund created to support drivers or delivery partners with up to 28 days of earnings. Now also its workers will be able to choose to receive it in the event that any of their immediate family members is diagnosed or is in mandatory quarantine by COVID-19.
