The Turkish authorities used the survey vessel “Oruc Reis” in the eastern Mediterranean for exploration activities on Monday, despite maritime disputes with Greece.
“Our ship reached the area of operation after leaving Antalia and will conduct a new mission in the Mediterranean Sea. 83 million Turks are supporting you, ‘Oruc Reis’,” said the country’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Fatih Donmez. according to the Anatolian agency.
In this context, it was determined that Ankara’s exploration activities for hydrocarbons in the Mediterranean and Black Seas would continue “without interruption” in order to achieve “Turkish energy independence”.
The ship in question will be accompanied by two other support vessels and will begin this Monday, although the mission will end on August 23.
