Designer Milton Glaser, who is responsible for the legendary “I Love NY” logo, dies at the age of 91

Designer Milton Glaser, responsible for the I Love NY logo, one of the landmarks of the North American metropolis, passed away this Friday at the age of 91, as his wife Shirley confirmed to The New York Times.

Glaser died on the same day of his birthday in Manhattan as a result of a stroke that contributed to severe kidney damage.

The designer, who was born in the Bronx in 1929 and is a co-founder of New York Magazine, goes down in history with his bold logo, which was designed as part of an advertising campaign that began in 1977 to strengthen the state’s image as crime and budget problems dominated the headlines.
