According to firefighters to the French media, 60 firefighters this morning are trying to control a fire declared at 8:00 a.m. in the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul in the French city of Nantes.
The flames started inside the building and temporarily appeared through the medallion on the facade. This is the result of reports from firefighters from the Loire Atlantique to the local newspaper ‘Ouest-France’.
Extinction tasks have not yet been completed.
This is not the first time that this cathedral in the heart of Nantes has been hit by fire. On January 28, 1972 the ceiling of the Gothic cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul. The service did not resume until 1985, 13 years after the event.
