Cuba confirms 29 cases of the Omicron variant

The Cuban health authorities confirmed 29 cases of the Omicron variant this Sunday, as announced by the Ministry of Health and the news portal ‘Cubadebate’.

According to the Minister of Health José Ángel Portal Miranda, 29 people have so far been identified with this variant of the virus in the sequence studies carried out by the Pedro Kourí Institute for Tropical Medicine (IPK).

Cuba registered 122 new positive coronavirus infections this Sunday, and more than a hundred cases for the second day in a row.

According to the Cuban Ministry of Health, the island has so far accumulated 964,729 confirmed infections and 8,320 deaths since the pandemic broke out.
