Cryptocurrency integration brings thousands of new users to the popular chat application

South Korean company Cocoa announced that its new cryptocurrency wallet feature in its KakaoTalk chat app has surpassed 100,000 users in less than a day. The feature started on June 3.

According to the internet giantKakaoTalk’s Klip was released with support for 11 cryptocurrencies. Almost 90% of the country’s population currently use the chat applicationand the company hopes to win them all over to the cryptosphere.

Klip is a mobile wallet that allows users to experiment with digital assets such as Klay (KLAY), BOX, Pet (BPT), PIBBLE (PIB), TIPP, HNO (ATT), TEMCO, Binz (BNS), Pixel (PXL), Insurium (ISR) and Cosm (COSM).

The increase in user registrations corresponds to 2% of the total of 50 million KakaoTalk users.

Klay tokens are offered at an early stage of the wallet

Before the start Ground X, the cocoa subsidiary and current operator of the Klaytn blockchain network, offered 50 of its early wallet operators 50 of its Klay tokens as an incentive to test the new features.

Han Jae-sun, CEO of Ground X, praised the announcement:

“It is a big surprise and I am very grateful for the incredible interest and support from the public.”

Push ahead with blockchain adoption

Cocoa has taken important steps for blockchain development across the portfolio. In 2019, the CEO of Cocoa, Yeo Min-soo claimed that his company Klaytn Blockchain is similar to Facebook’s Libra., except that it is way ahead in its development.

The internet giant’s plans to integrate the Klaytn portfolio into its Talk Messenger date back to March 2019, where the CEO highlighted the potential of its 40 million users at the time.
