ROME, April 26 (DPA / EP) –
Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte confirmed this Sunday in an interview with “La Repubblica” that the country’s schools will remain closed until next September to “be careful” when developing measures that contain the corona virus.
Italy has been under blockade longer than any other western nation to curb the spread of the epidemic that has hit the industrialized north of the country particularly hard. More than 126,000 people have died and the infections are almost 200,000.
“Schools are very important to us and will reopen in September,” said the Prime Minister after the Italian government closed schools, universities and kindergartens across the country on March 5 as one of the first containment measures.
