The software company Ethereum, ConsenSys, has just sealed its sixth CBDC project. The blockchain company announced this on October 28th will collaborate with the Société Générale Forge on experiments for a digital euro.
Société Générale Forge is the digital capital market platform of the leading financial services group, Société Générale Group. In spring 2019, SG Forge participated in the issuance of a 100 million euro bond as a security token in the Ethereum blockchain network. He specializes in building institutional models for operations with regulated security tokens registered on blockchain networks.
Together with Accenture, Euroclear, HSBC and others, SG Forge is one of the key partners selected by the Banque de France for their experimental development work on a central bank digital currency. In May, the Banque de France, Societe Generale SFH and SG Forge issued a token bond in the amount of 40 million euros as a pilot project via CBDC.
As part of your work with SG Forge ConsenSys will make its technology and expertise available for joint experiments with issuing and managing a CBDC, Delivery versus payment, and interoperability between ledgers.
Before the SG Forge project ConsenSys announced that it has been selected to lead the second phase of the implementation of the Ithanon Lionrock project, a cross-border CBDC payment network between Thailand and Hong Kong.
ConsenSys was also involved in the development of CBDC as part of the Central Bank of Singapore’s Ubin Project and the Central Bank of South Africa’s Khokha Project.
