Colombia overtook Italy on numerous coronavirus cases on Sunday, reaching 248,000 coronavirus infections. It is the fifteenth country most affected by the pandemic worldwide.
The Colombian Ministry of Health has confirmed 8,181 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 248,976 in the country, ahead of Italy, which had 246,118 positive cases.
The authorities have also confirmed 256 more deaths from the pandemic, in which a total of 8,525 people died in the country for the same cause. In addition, they reported that 125,037 people have recovered from COVID-19, 5,370 more in the last 24 hours.
The region most affected by the corona virus so far is Bogotá with 84,213 cases; followed by Atlántico with 48,439 positives; and Valle del Cauca with 21,536.
