Colombia has added 8,500 new cases of coronavirus to its balance this Saturday, exceeding 190,000 infections, according to the latest balance offered by the Ministry of Health.
With 8,560 new positives in particular, the country has registered 190,700 infections and 6,516 people have died from the pandemic, 228 more in the last 24 hours.
“Today 26,422 tests have been performed, 8,560 positive cases have been registered, more than 75 percent of which are concentrated in six communities and 228 deaths have been recorded. We express our condolences to people who have lost their relatives,” said the Colombian President Iván Duque on the Presidency’s Twitter account.
Duque has indicated that those over 70 are only seven percent of those infected, but more than 35 percent of people in intensive care units and more than 50 percent of those who have died. “If we protect this part of the population and take care of ourselves strictly, we will minimize the deadly effects of the pandemic,” he said.
