Colombian health authorities confirmed an additional 17,222 new cases of coronavirus this Sunday. The country thus surpasses the three million infections that have been recorded since the outbreak of the pandemic.
A total of 3,002,758 Colombians have contracted the disease, of which 2,819,874 are patients who have recovered after reporting 13,564 hospital discharges in the past 24 hours.
In contrast, 77,854 people lost their lives to the disease, which killed 495 in the last day, while the latest health ministry record confirms that there are 95,078 active cases to date.
Bogotá remains the territorial entity hardest hit by the virus. That Sunday, 5,724 positive reports were reported, reaching 831,296 cases.
It is followed by Antioquia and Valle del Cauca, where 2,146 and 1,282 new cases have been discovered in the last 24 hours, respectively.
The vaccination strategy implemented in the country has given more than 6.2 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine, of which more than 2.3 million are second doses.
On the last day, 149,535 doses of the immunizer were used in the Latin American country.
