Colombia exceeds 80,000 cases and the Home Office closes after a vice minister approves

The Colombian Ministry of Health reported 80,599 confirmed cases and 2,654 deaths from COVID-19 this Thursday, while the government has decided to close the Home Office headquarters after Vice Minister Daniel Palacios’s positive news.

Health officials have said the world added 3,486 newly registered cases and 163 more deaths this Thursday. Around 33,500 people managed to overcome the disease, while Bogotá, with more than 24,600, remains the region with the most positive results.

On the other hand, the closure of the headquarters known as La Giralda house will remain preventive after Palacios tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from a trip from Barranquilla.

The decision to close La Giralda in front of the Casa Nariño government seat was made a day after Palacios himself announced on his Twitter account that he had become infected with the new coronavirus disease.
