Colombian health officials confirmed nearly 12,000 new cases of coronavirus this Thursday, leaving the Latin American country, which is seeing a growing and sustained surge in its numbers for the pandemic, already has nearly 358,000 infected people.
Data provided by the Department of Health shows that 11,996 new positives have been confirmed in the last 24 hours, bringing the global number to 357,710. Colombia also has 11,939 deaths, 315 more than the previous day.
By region, Bogotá is hardest hit by the pandemic in Colombia. So far 123,875 positives have been registered. Atlántico with 56,118 and Valle del Cauca with 29,754 are in second and third place.
Likewise, Colombian health officials have highlighted that 192,355 people in the country have recovered from COVID-19, 6,038 more in the past 24 hours. However, in Colombia 152,671 cases remain classified as active.
