Colombia breaks a new record with the registration of 800 cases of coronavirus in one day and now exceeds 19,000

The Colombian Ministry of Health reported this Friday that a total of 801 new cases of coronaviruses have been registered in the country, bringing the positive overall balance to 19,131.

The social network Twitter also reported that the number of new deaths from COVID-19 had reached 30, bringing the total number of 682 deaths to the disease in Colombia. Those who have since recovered were 144 this Friday, for a total of 4,575.

Bogotá, the Colombian capital, is the city where further cases have been confirmed, a total of 6,591. In addition, 280 of the new positives were registered there. Atlántico followed with 2,372 and Valle del Cauca with 2,209 positive results.

Colombian President Iván Duque has extended mandatory preventive isolation until May 31 to curb the spread of the pandemic, while the same-day health emergency that lasted was extended until May 31. August.
