Colombia is nearing 8,000 COVID-19 deaths, while balancing over 7,000 new cases of the disease, according to the country’s health ministry.
In particular, health authorities have confirmed an additional 287 deaths this Friday, increasing the worldwide number to 7,975. The Ministry of Health has also reported 7,168 new positive results, which is why 233,541 people are already infected in Colombia.
By region, Bogotá is most affected by the pandemic in Colombia, where a “sectoral” quarantine is currently being put in place to stop the spread of the disease. To date, Bogotá has confirmed 77,889 cases of coronavirus. Behind them are Atlántico with 47,005 positives and Valle del Cauca with 20,416 positives.
According to the Colombian health authorities, a total of 113,864 people have recovered from the disease in the Latin American country, 5,913 in the last 24 hours. However, 111,228 cases are still active.
