Colombia and Brazil agree on coordination to deal with the increase in infections in the Amazon region

Colombia and Brazil have agreed to coordinate and exchange information about the pandemic to cope with the growth of the new corona virus in the Amazon, as Colombian President Iván Duque confirms.

As the President said, both countries have agreed to strengthen the military presence on the border in the area, paying special attention to informal steps between the two countries to prevent further infection.

Duque announced at a press conference that a mechanism to “homogenize” the measures funded by the health ministries of Colombia and Brazil and a coordination protocol between the two nations had been set up.

In this way, they formed a coordination group for COVID-19 to exchange information weekly to prevent the negative effects of the pandemic.
