In response to the closure of all film complexes in the country due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), Cinemex has implemented a new strategy. This is their first completely free online feature.

In a press release, the exhibitor announced that it would present its original digital function with the title Who lost a panda? (The big trip, 2018), which can be enjoyed via its official channel in Youtube. The virtual appointment will be this Sunday, May 24 at 6 p.m. (Time in Central Mexico).

The official synopsis of the film, which was recently released in more than 250 Cinemex complexes, prescribes the following:

«Who lost a panda? tells the story of the Mic-Mic bear and his companion rabbit, who accidentally receive a little panda at the entrance to their house. In this way, the adventure begins to free the panda with its parents. During this fun odyssey, a frightened wolf, tiger, and screaming bird come to them to help them complete the mission and return home to the little one. As you travel, you will find that as a team you will overcome any obstacle in your way.

In addition, Cinemex assumes that the animated feature film in its Spanish version can be enjoyed with the voice actors. José Luis Orozco (Invoices from Dragon Ball Z and Buzz Lightyear in Toy story) like the voice of the bear mic-mic. As well as Gerardo Reyero (Freezer from Dragon Ball Z and tuxedo mask from Sailor Moon), which gives the tiger accompanying the little bear its voice.

This was not Cinemex’s only cinephile strategy during the quarantine as it started along with it for a few weeks Mexican Association of Independent Filmmakers (AMCI) a project that offers free film lessons on YouTube.

With regard to the reopening of cinemas in Mexico City, it is known that security protocols are being developed to return to the cinemas. If everything goes as planned, the reopening of the cinemas in CDMX would be the next June 15, 2020 and must work at 50% of its capacity.
