BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Reuters / EP) –
Chinese state media have criticized the United States on Monday after US President Donald Trump announced new tariffs on products from China and lashed out at the country and ordered US companies to seek “alternatives” to China.
The two largest economies in the world have been involved in an increasingly bitter trade war. Trump announced Friday new tariffs on specific Chinese products, hours after China announced tariffs on US goods.
The newspaper 'China Daily' has assured that Washington “will never be allowed to control the fate of China.” “Undoubtedly, it has become clear that the tariff war of his Administration against China has a political motivation. What Washington wants from its largest trading partner is that it be content to do what it asks,” the newspaper said in its English version.
“Washington has once again taken the initiative to increase the fight with the hope that Beijing will leave as soon as possible, but Beijing considers the commercial war as an inevitable test of fire, from which the country will be strengthened,” he added.
For its part, the newspaper 'Global Times' has stressed that leaving the Chinese market would be a “suicide” for American companies, especially for car companies.
“American companies can invest and operate in the Chinese market, but if some American companies want to obey Trump's order and join the Washington commercial war, the result will be bleak. The decision to leave the Chinese market is suicide.” has underlined.
