China reiterates its support for the initiation of an independent corona virus scan

May 19, 2020

The Chinese authorities reiterated their support on Tuesday for launching an independent coronavirus investigation, which has resulted in 318,000 deaths and more than 4.6 million confirmed cases worldwide.

In a resolution adopted by members of the World Health Organization (WHO), including China, states have called for an “impartial, independent and comprehensive” investigation of the pandemic, including WHO action itself, which has been sharply criticized by the United States.

However, the North American country, which attended a virtual meeting at the World Health Assembly, has not hindered adoption of the resolution, according to the South China Morning Post.

In this sense, Washington has described the resolution as a “crucial step” to ensure that there is an international system capable of “efficiently” responding to the pandemic. However, he preferred to distance himself from the resolution.
