The Chinese Ministry of Health has confirmed 37 new cases of coronavirus, the same number as the previous day, although local infections in the Xinjiang region continue to make up the majority of new infections reported.
Specifically, according to Chinese health officials, 27 of the new positives will be transmitted locally and 26 of them have been confirmed in Xinjiang, home of the Uighur Muslim minority, and their authorities decided almost three weeks ago that the capital, Urumqi, would be closed before the rise in infections.
The other case of local transmission was recorded in Beijing while the rest, ten, are imported infections. Seven of them were registered in Shanghai, and Liaoning, Jiangsu and Sichuan each reported one case. With these data, China has 84,565 infected people and 2,120 from abroad.
On the other hand, the Chinese Ministry of Health reported that there were 14 asymptomatic cases, four of them from abroad. So far, the Chinese health authorities have reported 273 asymptomatic cases, 112 of which have been imported.
