China is seeing a slight decrease in imported cases, although there are still no local infections

The Chinese Ministry of Health confirmed 17 new imported cases this Tuesday, eight of them in the eastern municipality of Shanghai, four in the southern province of Guangzhou and two more in Zhejiang, two in Shaanxi and finally one in Shandong.

For the third year in a row, the Xinjiang region, home to the Muslim Uyghur minority, has no local cases after authorities decided a little more than a month ago to shut down western China’s capital, Urumqi, for a major upswing, almost of which 500 people were affected.

With these new data, China’s balance has risen to 84,888 cases of coronavirus while 2,339 positives have already been found from abroad, 2,127 of which have overcome the disease, while another 212 people remain in hospital, none of them in serious condition.

Furthermore, the Asian country’s health authorities are not aware of any additional deaths from COVID-19, so the death toll remains at 4,634.
