The Chinese Ministry of Health has reported that it has discovered 27 new cases of COVID-19 in the Asian country, 22 of which are locally transmitted.
All cases of local transmission have been confirmed in the Xinjiang region, home to the Uyghur Muslim minority, whose authorities decided more than two weeks ago to close their capital, Urumqi, due to an increase in infections.
In addition, the Chinese health authorities have confirmed five cases of corona viruses from abroad, two in Shanghai and one in Beijing, Sichuan and Shaanxi. With these new numbers, the coronavirus cases in China have increased to 84,419, while the imported cases are already 2,103.
The Chinese Ministry of Health has also registered 24 new asymptomatic cases, ten of them from abroad. A total of 272 asymptomatic cases were registered in the Asian country.
