The Chinese Ministry of Health lowered its daily account balance on new COVID-19 cases on Sunday and confirmed 43 new cases, 36 of which were locally transmitted.
In particular, according to Chinese health authorities, 28 of the 36 local transmission cases were found in the Xinjiang region, home to the Uyghur Muslim minority, whose authorities decided just over two weeks ago to close their capital, Urumqi, before an increase in infections.
The rest of the eight local transmission cases were confirmed in the Lianoning region. Regarding imported cases, three were discovered in Jiangsu Province, two in Shandong, one in Lianoning and one in Guangdong.
With these new numbers, China’s global balance is 84,428 infected. In addition, health authorities in the Asian country have reported that 11 new asymptomatic cases have been confirmed, three of which are imported. China has already reported 257 asymptomatic cases, 102 from abroad.
