The Chinese Ministry of Health increased its balance to 18 new local transmission cases diagnosed in the Xinjiang Uyghur region on Wednesday after authorities ordered Urumqi, the capital, to be closed before an increase in infections occurred.
China has verified a total of 22 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours. At 18 in Xinjiang, we need to add another one who was diagnosed with local transmission in Liaoning and imported three who are registered in Shanghai, Guangdong and Shaanxi.
In total, Chinese health authorities registered 2,023 imported COVID-19 cases, while the worldwide number has increased to 833,729 positive cases. However, the death toll from the disease remains unchanged at 4,634.
The Chinese Ministry of Health also reported 31 new asymptomatic cases, including seven from abroad. Asymptomatic cases in the country are found in 176, 89 of them came from outside its borders.
In addition, 15 patients have been discharged in the last 24 hours, so 78,855 people in China have managed to recover from the disease. A total of 7,218 people who have kept in close contact with infected patients are still under medical observation, 378 fewer than on the previous day.
