The Chinese Ministry of Health continues to improve the balance of coronavirus cases by registering 61 new infections in the past 24 hours, 57 of which were local and four from abroad.
Most locally transmitted infections occurred in Xinjiang, 41, home of the Uyghur Muslim minority, and after Urumqi, the capital, closed after an increase in infections. The rest focus on liaoning with 14 cases and Jilin with two cases.
Regarding imported cases, authorities have indicated that two have been registered in Inner Mongolia, one in Fujian and the other in Sichuan. The number of deaths remained stable at 4,634 and infections rose to 83,891, of which 339 continue to receive medical treatment.
The Chinese ministry has confirmed 2,049 overseas cases since the pandemic began, of which 1,969 have been released and 80 remain in hospital, two of them in severe condition, according to the Chinese news agency Xinhua.
