China confirms 22 imported cases and no local transmission for the first time in almost a month

The Chinese Ministry of Health confirmed 22 new imported cases this Sunday, eight of them in Canton Province (south), four in Yunnan (southwest), three in Shanghai municipality (east) and three more in Shaanxi (center) and two in Sichuan (South), one in Fujian (southeast) and one in Shandong (east).

This is the first time in almost a month that the Xinjiang region, home to the Uighur Muslim minority, has not counted local cases after authorities decided to close the western Chinese capital of Urumqi due to a major boom, from which affected almost 500 people.

With these new data, China’s balance has risen to 84,849 cases of coronavirus, while 2,230 positives have already been verified from abroad, of which 2,098 have overcome the disease, while another 202 people remain in hospital, none of them in serious condition.

Furthermore, the Asian country’s health authorities are not aware of any additional deaths from COVID-19, so the death toll remains at 4,634.
