China adds seven more cases of foreign origin, although the effects of the outbreak continue in Hong Kong

August 20, 2020

The Chinese Ministry of Health confirmed just seven coronavirus infections this Tuesday, all of which are of foreign origin, while in Hong Kong the effects of recent outbreaks are continuing, after nearly thirty new positives on the final day and 4,586 accumulated cases.

For the fourth year in a row, there are no local cases in the Xinjiang region, home to the Uyghur Muslim minority, after authorities decided just over a month ago to close the western Chinese capital of Urumqi because of a major upswing, almost of which 500 people were affected.

With these new data, China’s balance has risen to 84,895 cases of coronavirus, while 2,346 positives have already been verified from abroad, 2,148 of which have overcome the disease, while another 198 people remain in hospital, none of them in serious condition.
